A Belated Welcome to 2007: (Ready or not!)
Gentlemen. A belated New Year greeting to each of you! (Have you busted up your resolutions yet?)
It was a whirlwind dash to the end of 2006 and, *blink*, all of sudden it is January 9. A few random thoughts tonight about my own Christmas may help explain the lengthy interval between notes -- and my therapist suggested it would be good for me to journal.
I think my Christmas vacation is begging for the next installment of the National Lampoon franchise. It started simply enough. My brother-in-law and his new bride of three months offered to take me to the Omaha airport...and the car broke down at 12:30 in the morning.
A tornado in Dallas/Ft. Worth resulted in my return flight being cancelled...and the next flight six hours later ended up being oversold. Being a Good Samaritan, I volunteered my seat and offered to take the 6 am flight the next morning....only to learn my luggage just left for Chicago without me.
Arrived back in Omaha...to a raging snowstorm. Traffic on I-80 crawled at 45 mph instead of the traditional 75 (do I hear 80?) mph. We break free of winter weather but decide to overnight at a hotel. New Year's Eve spent at the Iowa City Sheraton. Yipee.
I think I'm ready to stay close to home for awhile! Hopefully you had a far more restful Christmas. I'm hungry for some calm to really focus on 2007 and listen for God's leading for this New Year.
Our small group has decided to tackle “The Bible in 90 Days: An Extraordinary Experience with the Word of God” as led by Ted Cooper, Jr. with Stephen and Amanda Sorenson. Feel free to ask me how I'm doing on my 12 pages of reading a day! (And ask Kevin and Deaon, too!)
